Pottery workshop
You will learn the different hand-building methods of working with clay - slab-building, coiling, modelling & pinching. Then the work can be textured & painted. You will be lead by an experienced tutor who will give demonstrations & you will be able to practice the different techniques, before being able to create your own unique pieces. Bring an old shirt or apron. Once completed the work will be fired in the kiln & glazed.

RAKU (Japanes pottery) workshop
We will hand-build bowls, tea-lights or tea bowls, using a heavily grogged raku clay, by coiling & pinching. You will be taught the different methods by practical demonstrations & have-a-go yourselves sessions in the first day. The work will dry out & then be initially fired in a bisq kiln. The 2nd session (morning only) you will be able to paint your work with raku glazes & then we will all fire the work in the raku kiln. This involves a slow firing initially, one the pots are warm the gas will be turned up & fired to approx 950 degrees. The pots will be taken out of the raku bin at the high temperature & put in sawdust or water to cool down.

Potter's Wheel Workshop
One to one or small group sessions in throwing on the wheel. Beginners or people with some experience of the potters wheel, as well as all ages, are welcome. You will be shown how to create cylindars to make mugs, vases etc or bowl shapes, by practical demonstrations & then prepare to get dirty by having a go yourself! You can book individual sessions or 4-6 classes as you choose.
