Spend the day learning exciting monoprint techniques such as offset, collage, reductive and additive methods and create a number of painterly prints that you can take away with you.

The principles of perspective, and constructing a scene £60
Thursday 18th, 10am-4pm

Explaining the basic principles of perspective, and introducing how to apply perspective to the construction of a scene. Through the course of the day we will cover 1 point and 2 point perspective, learning through creative tutorials and drawing exercises, and culminating in the production of a drawing in 2 point perspective of a local scene.

This day can be combined with Friday 19th November as a 2-day workshop or combined with Saturday 27th November as a 2-day workshop (£110 incl lunch, excl materials £5)

Sketching in perspective traditionally with pencil £60
Friday 19th, 10am-4pm

Aimed at those with a basic understanding of perspective, the morning will be spent looking at different pencil techniques that can be used when sketching. We will explore the various ways to show different textures and materials in a drawing, how to produce quick and effective images of foliage and skies, and how to create real depth and atmosphere with shading.

The afternoon (weather permitting) would be spent in the gardens of Dutch House, with everyone producing a sketch of the buildings and their surroundings, using the techiniques learnt that morning.

Felt making (Gift items for Christmas) £55
Saturday 20th, 10am-4pm

As Christmas approaches there will be a festive slant on feltmaking with choices of creating various gifts of felt jewellery or a small scarf or making your own decorations to display. The day is very flexible and tailored to your own skill levels. There will be lots of samples on display for ideas. The workshop is suitable for all levels even if you have never made felt before.

Copperfoiling (Get ready for Christmas) £65
Thursday 25th, 10am-4pm

Make sun catchers for a window, mobiles, hanging pieces, mirrored pieces or more advanced 3d pieces such as tea light holders and boxes.  Patterns will be provided that you can work from or if you have your own ideas bring these along - even if it's just a magazine cutting of something that has inspired you - a pattern you have seen, a combination of colours that you like.  You will learn to cut your own glass pieces or you can use pre-cut elements and then assemble these using copper foil and solder.

Willow and hedgerow weaving (Get ready for Christmas) £65

Get ready for Christmas. Make your own decoration or make a beautiful piece to give a way as a Christmas gift. On this course you will gather colourful hedgerow materials, and weave them together with willow to make wreaths, platters and seasonal deorations. Tutored by local willow worker, Angela Cole of Yorkshire Hurdles, this will be a creative inspiring day.

Perspective in pastel:
producing fun, contemporary and
quirky scenes £60
Saturday 27th, 10am-4pm

Aimed at those with an understanding of perspective, the morning will be spent looking at different ways to interpret and characterize your surroundings in a quirky and fun manor. The afternoon will explore the use of pastels, and different techniques that can be used. There will then be the chance for participants to go outside and produce their own picture in the gardens of Dutch House.
